Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 November 2026
This policy explains how the Cuboix app for iPhone (“Cuboix”, “the app”) handles information about you. Cuboix is made by Andrea Gaglione (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the processing described here.
- Your game stays on your phone. Progress, settings, your player name and photo are stored on your iPhone and are never sent to us.
- No account. You never sign up, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Ads only when you choose them. Videos play only when you tap to watch one for a reward. They are served by Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers as described below.
- Analytics and crash reports through Google Firebase help us improve the game and fix crashes.
- We never sell your data.
1. Data that stays on your iPhone
Your levels and stars, coins, hints and tokens, items in your Collection, achievements, statistics, settings, the player name and profile photo you choose, and your level editor drafts are saved only on your device. We cannot see or recover them. Deleting the app deletes them.
The app also stores a random installation ID in the iOS Keychain, used only for invitations (see section 2). iOS may keep Keychain items after the app is deleted, so that a reinstall keeps the same ID.
2. Invitations
If you open the invitations in your Profile, the app sends your random installation ID to our server to get your personal invite code. If you enter a friend’s code, the app sends that code along with your installation ID. We store the installation ID, the invite code, how many friends used it, the rewards already given and the dates. We use this only to deliver invitation rewards and to stop the same installation from claiming them more than once.
The server runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the request. We keep invitation records while the invitation program runs; you can ask us to delete yours at any time by sending us the invite code shown in your Profile.
3. Ads (Google AdMob)
Cuboix shows no ads unless you choose to watch a video for a reward. These videos are provided by Google AdMob. When you watch one, or when the app gets one ready, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system and language;
- advertising identifiers: the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) only if you allow tracking when iOS asks you, otherwise identifiers that do not track you across other companies’ apps;
- how you interact with the ads, and diagnostics about the ads’ performance.
Google uses this to show ads, measure them, limit how often you see the same ad and prevent fraud. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows Google’s consent message the first time, and ads are personalized only if you agree; you can change your choice at any time from the app’s Settings. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in Google’s Privacy Policy.
4. Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services of Google, to understand how the game is played and to fix problems.
- Analytics records events such as a level started or finished (with moves, time, hints used and game mode), a reward video watched and a purchase made, together with an app instance ID, device model, operating system, language, approximate country and session information.
- Crashlytics sends a report when the app crashes: the technical state of the app and device at that moment and a random installation ID.
Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days. These reports do not include your name, your photo or anything that identifies you directly.
5. Purchases
Purchases and the Cuboix+ subscription are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The app only receives from Apple a confirmation of what you bought, so it can deliver it.
6. Photos and notifications
If you save a replay video, the app asks permission to add it to your photo library. It cannot read your photos. Reminders, such as when free hints are ready, are scheduled on your iPhone; no notification server is involved, and you can turn them off in Settings.
7. Why we process data (legal bases)
| What | Legal basis (EU GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Invitations and their rewards | Performance of the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Personalized ads and the IDFA | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time |
| Non-personalized ads, fraud prevention | Our legitimate interest in funding a free game (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Analytics | Your consent where required, otherwise our legitimate interest in improving the game |
| Crash reports | Our legitimate interest in keeping the app working (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
8. Who receives data
Only the providers named above: Google (AdMob and Firebase), Cloudflare (our invitation server) and Apple (purchases). Some of them may process data outside the European Union, including in the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
9. Children
Cuboix is a game for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting what was done before. To exercise these rights, write to us at the address below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority; in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
You can also limit tracking yourself: in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and by resetting or deleting the app.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app when a change matters.
